Preparing for post recession competitive edge

Plenty of organisations right now are thinking about how to avoid redundancies and survive the recession. Options include, flexible working, reducing hours, changing terms and conditions even reducing salaries and cutting benefits. Many employees will realise that times are difficult and will accept these changes, particularly if they are consulted.

Forward thinking organisations will be going a step further. Handling such employment issues in consultation with their workforce and clearly identifying the issues that matter most to people and acting on it will be beneficial to the future.

Now is not the time to cut the training budget. Employees want to feel secure in their future and those companies that are still determined to invest in employee development will be well placed to emerge from the recession with a strong and loyal workforce for the future.
